Holiday Inn Express Stevenage, an IHG Hotel

The Hotel was very central, spotless, comfortable and the staff were very helpful.

The Breakfast was very basic.

Buffet breakfast very good when started late enough to have it.

The internet access was terrible, This is NOT the hotel to stay in if you are a bussines man looking to work in the evening on the internet. It was that bad i asked to check out.

All of it, very happy everything lovely and clean and inviting.

Clean, comfortable room. Food available 24/7. Breakfast. Price was reasonable.

Reception staff, in particular the more mature lady with husky voice. I had previously requested via e-mail, information about disabled parking. I was informed by the receptionist, she had no knowledge and it's because I booked through an agency. I mentioned all the hotel disabled bays were full and only one had a blue badge. She replied, we weren't expecting anyone!!! NOT THE POINT. She obviously wasn't expecting me, but I am disabled with a blue badge, but that did not seem to make any difference, nor did she make ANY effort to clear a bay. She just didn't care. She was minimal with hospitality right from the off. Very unwelcoming. Perhaps some hospitality training. The food service 24/7 is great, but for someone with a disability, it's benefit was outweighed by having to go down stairs, albeit by lift and back up 'carrying a tray', in order to eat. Perhaps there could be an exception offered to anyone with mobility issues. I was first kept awake by a male outside screaming for over half an hour, until Police and Ambulance arrived, after I notified Security. I was then kept awake ALL nite by two groups,one male and one female in and out of their rooms ALL night, heavy doors BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG...Get the point! When they were in the rooms I could not hear them, just the door BANGING ALL NIGHT! No I did not call down, after consideration, what would I have said, they keep going in and out of each others rooms banging doors! Seriously! The other problem I had to consider; I am a lone female and unable to defend myself. All in all, not good! I truly don't know if I would recommend this hotel. I had a course the next day and was exhausted, obviously I mentioned it to other attendees. I am due to attend further courses in the area but have to say, I just don't know if I can afford to take the risk again and stay there.

Its easy access to the town.

Parking is a problem, not enough hotel parking spaces.

Ideal for short stays, great location and waking up to a lovely breakfast

The staff were efficient, friendly and eager to help. Room was clean and bright, shower was powerful and easy to use. Guest lounge was comfortable and modern with friendly atmosphere. Location was great for A1 access and hotel compared well price wise to other available hotels.

Beds were uncomfortable - double had roll together mattress (big dip in the middle) and a few dodgy springs; sofa bed mattress was of poor quality and my son ended up sleeping on the floor as springs were digging in! Definitely need to improve this, as it would affect decision to stay in future. It was ok for a couple of nights but was glad to be home on a comfy mattress! I've said I would recommend to a friend but, I would advise them to check the mattress beforehand if possible. Breakfast was reasonable although could have offered more for vegetarians.
