Overall the experience was very good. Breakfast was execellent Three factors that would have improved our stay. 1 - Checking out was horrendous - 25min wait 2 - Bar rates were very high £4.20 for a shot of vodka made one round of drinks extortinate. We spent a small fortune with one drink £10 which we felt was over the top if you had a large vodka and orange. 3 - No water in the room. No mini bar stocked but not the end of the world

We found the Hotel very comfortable although rather over-heated. Food was good. Overall, we feel that the De Vere could do with a "face lift" as we understand she has been a Top Class Hotel in Southampton for some years - but that apart, we would definately like to stay there should be visit Sothampton in the future.

Beautiful hotel with lovely pool, steam room and sauna. Beautiful dining room with extensive and very good breakfast and plenty of fresh fruit. The room was clean but unfortunately had no view. We had a good offer price and there will certainly have to do. Southampton fell a bit against us from the hotel but could you be so to the ferry to the Isle of Wight walking and that was a great day out.

Very nice hotel, only problem being, on checkout the computer system was down and we wanted to pay cash, not credit card, They said we couldnt even though we knew how much the bill was, as there system wouldnt allow it. It ended up that we had to go to the docks to register in for the cruise, & board the ship, then my husband had to come off again & walk back to the hotel so that we could pay the bill. when the computer system was up & running again. They should have some system for accepting cash when the computing system is down.

A very poor experience and no way is this a 5 star hotel. Our room had no air conditioning but a floor standing fan instead? No wireless internet, no instructions on using any aminity in the room. Keys that continually would not work and after returning to reception many times no apology or even a hint of saying sorry for the inconvenience. A long walk from the car park and no ramp for luggage and to charge £5 to park in very petty! Our car was also covered in mud from being splashed whilst parked! The final straw was being asked to pay an extra £3.50 for using my Amex Card or £2.50 for a visa/mastercard which I found very insulting. I stay in good hotels for business all the time and would not recommend the De Vere.

We have stayed at the De Vere on at least 3 occasions and find it an attractive hotel. We have stayed in the Executive Rooms as well as the Ordinary Rooms. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom facilities excellent with largish, fluffy towels (not always guaranteed in some Hotels). Breakfast was very pleasant with lots of choices as to Continental and full English. We both felt fully relaxed, and would certainly stay again.

Thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the bar on Saturday evening listening to the piano player having a couple of leisurely drinks.

The hotel was very comfortable, clean and we enjoyed the overnight stay. The only real downside was that on arrival the hotel take a card imprint for a value £50 over the amount payable on the room which seemed a little strange.
