Having stayed previously in 2007 the hotel was still first class and the staff friendly and helpful.

The hotel is in a very central location which was great.

We were very disappointed with our two single beds as we assumed there would be a double. The noise from the trains is terrible and the noise from the air conditioning is worse, so between the two we didn't get a lot of sleep.

All the staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming, particularly those on Reception as I needed to ask them several times where to go, how to get there etc etc. They gave me a good selection of maps and leaflets which were ideal for me as it was I was on my own and it was my first visit to Utrecht, and also checked out various details on internet for me. Their English was excellent! The bar staff also were very obliging and I had an enjoyable meal there on each of my two evenings. Also the breakfast was sumptious,of good quality and very varied, which meant that I only needed a small snack during the day. Lastly it was great that the hotel was so high and one could see it for quite a big area around, so I was able to find my way back from the centre quite easily by foot.

I was very comfortable, my room was very spacious, the bed firm which is what I needed, everything spick and span and I was lucky to have a bathroom. But I am not used to modern hotels with central heating or air conditioning, at home even at night I try to leave a window open to allow me some fresh air. So I must admit I found it very difficult to breathe and to have a good night's sleep. Also whereas the hotel is ideal because it is very near the railway station and therefore easy to reach when arriving by train, the work currently in progress on the station building itself makes it quite difficult to reach the hotel even though one can see it as soon as one arrives by train. Perhaps visitors could be made aware of this and maybe some advice given.

Having stayed there previously I found the hotel to be just as good and well run as I had expected.

Ten minute walk from city centre shops/tourist location. Very helpful staff. Cleanliness of rooms. Good variety for breakfast.

Close to the central station, not too distant from the city centre.

Staff providing wrong information, eg the travelling time from utrecht to kinderdijk, when asked about it. i'd be fine if she said 'i am not sure, i'm afraid, and you may get that info from X.', for example, but she told us 'some 30mins', in a sure tone, while in fact, it's well over an hour! that's not professional at all.
