San Marino

I absolutely did not like this hotel and do not recommend it to others. The hotel atmosphere is dull and it feels more like hostel, which was not renovated for several decades... Sanitary equipment is old and broken, water leaks. Rooms are smelly and not ventilated. There are also some bugs like centipedes and spiders living together with you. Hotel staff is also quite unfriendly and intend to cheat. Be aware, when you order wine - I think it is their strategy to have better wines in menu, but to supply similar names but totally different and, of course, much cheapier wines for the same charge. When speaking about breakfast, despite the fact that Italian kitchen is so nice, food in this hotel (let's call it food) was so poor in taste: juice, coffee - made of special powder, bread becoming hard because of time, eggs smelled like they were boiled several days before, etc.. If not considering quite nice location (and nice photos in their webpage), this hotel is not worth your time spent there.

We have stayed both on our way to Elba on the return journey per night in a hotel in San Marino Laglio. The hotel was fine for one night but for a longer stay is not recommended. It has indeed from the restaurant and from the rooms a beautiful view of Lake Como but it is also adjacent to a busy main road and is very loud. In the night can be a bit of traffic but after a quiet night you still do not even during the day, the traffic noise nuisance. Otherwise, there are delicious pizzas in the restaurant, the staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and confortable. The breakfast was also good.

Location is reasonable to Lake Como, but also on a busy road at night a lot of traffic. Loading and unloading at 04.30uur under the bedroom window! Breakfast was bad: broken / dysfunctional coffee machine that also gave the tea-brown water. Youghurts far to date, and stale bread. Room was clean with good shower. Staff unfriendly and only Italian speaking. For a slightly higher price is within 500m a much better hotel with beautiful views directly on Lake Como, with excellent service and great food!
