The Angel Hotel

Having stayed at the Angel Hotel in Cardiff many times, all was expected. It was however very apparent that the rooms need a complete refurbishment. the bathroom in particular was 'seedy' to say the least, dirty grouting, toilet seat impegnated with dirt and not fitting correctly. It is a very old building and full of character but it now requires a complete overhaul. The mattress in particular was sloping to the headboard and we did not have a full nights' sleep for the 2 days.

On the whole this is a reasonably priced hotel in a great location. If you had not sent this email, we would not have complained about anything ......but you did ask ! I have had to paste my dislikes here, because it will not let me send the email if i leave them in the designated section. We did not enjoy the thinness of the bedroom walls. we had to listen to the love making in the next room at 0200 on Sunday morning. and the very unfair (in my opinion) and very loud complaining of the man next door on the monday morning. We did not like the poor sound insulation of the windows. The traffic was heavy and noisy through out Saturday night. We did not like the lack of space in the room. it was difficult to move in the room to get to the table, the wardrobe, make the tea because it was so cramped. it looked more like a single room with two beds in it. We were a little disappointed with the car park.

The value for money was awful,I paid £300 for the night, this was one of the last rooms availible, for that price I would have expected a suite, but it was an average or even below average size room, the bathroom was tired,the room needed updating & there was damage to the wall above the bed the air con would not turn down, i could not open windows as it was too noisy outside. the price did not even include breakfast was £13.95 which i declined.It was £240 over priced.

We had a very nice stay rooms were very clean and staff were very friendly my only complaint was paying almost £17 for 2 glassas of wine at the bar. definatly would stay there again.

In simple terms the hotel and the staff were amazing.
