Hôtel Le Donjon - Coeur de la Cité Médiévale

Le Donjon was recommended by friends as an idyllic stop over. I only spent one evening at the hotel but it served me well. Right in the heart of the walled City and convenient to the airport. I hope to find time to return with my wife for a short break, it would be perfect.

Photos are not contractual, the site is misleading in this regard (eg choice of room "luxury" does not match the room photographed but that corresponding to a lower price!

Fantastic hotel in the cité, helps to make the experience more magical. Perhaps it is not cheap, but the area is not cheap and pco uun more you are in full medieval city, and for us it was worth.

We were very pleased, especially with the situation and Carcassonne and its Cit? appropriate atmosphere, but we had - in the annex - the bad luck that there quite a long evening, the street enmusik to h • ren is what we? already in the hotel, without any other? ngelbeschwerden, M commented brig. The hotel w? rde I recommend, but you should probably in Hauptgeb? Reserve building.

The bar service was very poor with only the receptionist trying to do 2 jobs at once. Considering the price you would expect a better service,otherwise everthing was perfect,although if the weather is bad it's a long walk between buildings.

We stayed in the "Remparts" half of the hotel, 200 meters from the "Donjon" part. The staff was friendly and helpful. A map was handed out that shows the location of the 2 parts of the hotel and the parking lot in the city. However you can easily get confused by the narrow winding streets - that is the charm of Carcassonne. The room was vey spaceous with an extra bed for our son in the hallway. The bathroom was large and impeccably clean with a tub. Plenty of clean, fluffy towels. Nice big twin bed. French doors to an outside terrasse with a table and chairs.

Fabulous, comfortable room with great views. The building has lots of character and the rooms have more personality than the usual hotel room.

Friendly staff. A hotel full of smiling staff! Our two little girls where very excited about the knights in de mainbuilding/reception. A bit of adventure in a hotel in a real 'casstle'!

We were in the new part 2nd floor - stone steps up our uneven and difficult - elevator not working yet - man worked on it Sun. morning outside our door while we were trying to sleep. He was very polite - helped us with our luggage when we left and appologized for disruption. Parking situation worked - we were worried about it.
