DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Southampton

The hotelw as very close to where I was visiting so provided me much more time ion the morning. It is very easy to find this hotel.

I have stayed here many times and generally found it to be of good standard until my most recent visit. The member of staff behind the counter had a bad cold and coughed over my paperwork and documents before handing back to me. The bathroom floor was not that clean and only very much later did I discover that the toilet handle had broken so I could not flush the toilet unless I lifted the lid and manually pulled up the flush repeatedly until it flushed. The room was also cold (not ideal as I am asthmatic). You need to remember to turn the radiator off before you go to bed otherwise the heating kicks in about 3am and your bedroom becomes far too hot.

The absence of slippers and bath robe

The bed was uncomfortable. The restaurant was fully booked so had to have a bar meal. We were charged £3 to park in their carpark over night.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hilton. The pool was lovely and managed to get a couple of swims.

We thought that the meals and drinks were very pricey and so did not eat or drink at the hotel. We noticed that this was reflected in the fact that the restaurant was empty and there was only a couple of people in the bar at any time. We would have eaten and had a few drinks at the hotel if it was even a little cheaper.

Rooms were rather dark and a bit gloomy. The motorway is nearby so sleep with open windows is difficult because of the noise.
