The view

Luxurious price without the luxury. No evening service to turn down the beds etc. No coffee making facilities Car parking one evening impossible with a conference also taking place. No question if we wanted a reservation for dinner. WiFi difficult to obtain All in all a disappointing experience for the price we paid. Dogs allowed In bedrooms - totally inappropriate.

On arrival, you are asked your address, your credit card numbers and? when all is done upstream through the site with more guarantee discretion. What confidence can I bring them? make sure not to be near the extraction duct of the hood kitchen at the risk of supporting a horrible noise until 2am. do not think that the announcement of the site such as: the establishment does not accept groups, family reunion etc. ... This weekend there, a large Arab marriage than 200 people made the party!! rates announced in breakfast room are not updated, which is misleading, too bad!

Noise from the elevator, the hotel can claim to be only a 3 star but not 4 stars

The location is fabulous, high on a hillside overlooking the Seine with La Defence in the distance. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The building is historic, being the birthplace of Louis XIV, and the public rooms are well kept in the grand style.

The historic nature of the building seems to be put before the services to guests. While the reception staff were helpful, they are not helped in doing their job by being located in a small recess, which makes it difficult for them to serve more than one person at a time. There is no bar and the seating in the reception area is rather spread out, giving it a cold feeling and meaning that there is no common area in which guests might socialise - you get the impression this might be a policy decision to avoid having to dedicate part of the building to this, perhaps thus cluttering up the common areas. Staff seemed somewhat surprised when we did order drinks, which were also expensive, here and in the mini bars. The only meal we ate in was one day's breakfast, overpriced at €16 for a fairly ordinary cold spread and for which we received no service other than the first coffee pouring, we helped ourselves to refills. No excuse for this, we were the only ones in the room to start with and only one couple arrived while we were there. Dinner looked expensive compared with comparable restaurants locally.

Bed small but adapted to the room ...

The welcome we have received was very warm. The room was wonderful and the view! The view - breathtaking. The history of the Pavilion and the restaurant all by itself worth the trip. A treasure of French history - the kings, literature, gastronomy ... with "all Paris" to see, not to mention the park and castle.

Note that this is 38 years since my last stay at the Pavilion when I was 14 years. At the time everything was neat, impeccable to say the least. What I did not like in 2009: The tables were not right on the walls, and the candlestick or the candles went in all directions and looked very tired, painting both the inside and outside and the carpet on the stairs in particular who had, too, looks very, very tired. It is a place so magical, so beautiful that it deserves more attention to detail.
