The location of our room was perfect for walking to the ruins. however, we did not know it would be two levels, with the livingroom on first and then a steep set of stairs to the bedroom and bathroom. the rooms smelled of disinfectant and the bed was held up by a stiff board under the mattress. also there was an entry hall door and front door to open. the entry hall door locked behind you and then you were trapped unless you had the key. if there was a fire you could never get out. A very dangerous fire hazard.

The location is perfect for anyone arriving to Fiumicino and looking for somewhere close to stay overnight. We were not going to Rome and planned to travel south next day. Staying in the old "borgo" at Rodrigo de Vivar threw us straight into history. A unique experience! We also spent a few hours before leaving Ostia to explore the excavations. The two story hotel room was spacy and comfortable. Felt more like staying in an old Italian house than in a hotel.

I really liked this hotel--right in the old town, by the castle. It is furnished with very interesting antiques and the owner is very kind and informative. The only fault I have is that there is no airconditioning and when I was there it was very humid, as I think it is in all the warm months, and our room had only one window and a fan. The owner did explain that because he is in the historic district they don't allow him to put airconditioners. Aside from that, this is a very convenient place to stay to see the ruins at Ostia Antica and also very convenient to the airport

We loved our visit. The manager was great as was Adela the cook who cooked a superb meal for us.
