Carton House a Fairmont Managed Hotel

The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. The hotel and room was extremely clean and comfortable. Service was very good although a bit slow in the snack\bar area. Food was very tasty.

Unfortunately there were two remote controls for the TV. I wasted too much time trying to work the TV and CD/DVD\Tuner (Out of date remote\battery exhausted) However when I went to reception witb the two remote controls after 45 mins of frustration the staff were very helpful and told me the bigger Philips remote control was old and shouldn't have been in the room! They then sent a technician to the room who found the battery in the second remote,/which could work the whole system, needed replacement as it was exhausted! As I like to catch up on news\weather when I arrive it would be a nice touch for myself and other guests to make sure the technology in the room works on arrival. I would like to experience the room facilities again and perhaps the hotel could offer a discounted rate as a gesture for the inconvenience and to enjoy a smooth arrival with everything working Without the need to visit reception

The price of accomodation may be a little excessive.

Rooms lovely, food excellent and the grounds were beautiful

I would particularly recommend the spa treatments and found the spa staff to be friendly and kind as well as professional.

My only real negative is that, other than a pre-made (if high quality) sandwich, there isn't really a small meal option: it's like you end up having dinner twice in the day. Because of the location, you are going to spend the majority of your time in the hotel/grounds, so a cafe style option, particularly at lunch time, would be a good idea. Especially since the food in the main restaurant is SO GOOD that you will definitely be indulging in a large dinner!
