Hôtel Mercure Macon Bord de Saône

On the three nights of my booking, no restautant service was available: (it seemed the hotel had taken large bookings from tour groups). The staff were helpful in suggesting alternatives, but these were unrealistic given the location of the hotel. I do not think this is satisfactory from a hotel of this purportes standing

Only one downside, but not least, bed too small and uncomfortable

The hotel is right on the river, but a long walk from town, but it is the only 3 star hotel in Macon! There is no internet in the hotel except if you bring your own computer. There is no safe in the room only in reception, which is not very convenient. There is no fridge or coffee and tea making in the room. Also you receive no shampoos etc only liquid soap and if you want a bar of soap you have to buy some. There are no taxis available in Macon unless you prebook well in advance. All in all we wouldn't recommend to stay in Macon for more than 1 night if you have too. There is a pool in the hotel but don't expect anything very pretty! The restaurant is very expensive and no variety from lunch to dinner. In all our travels through Europe, the worst hotel we have stayed in.
