The Location of the hotel

The "Waldorf" Hilton seems to be resting on its laurels as a Waldorf Hotel. The rooms are adequate, and the overall hotel is fine, but it is not a 5 star hotel. I would rank this at a 3 star hotel. The food and service are good, but not great. The rooms are tired and could use some updating. When I think of a Waldorf hotel, I think of the Astoria in NY, of the SAVOY on the strand, and other grand hotels - this one does not fit in with those at all. After visiting the Savoy down the strand, we had wished we had stayed there. Don't get me wrong - this is not a bad hotel - it is just not the caliber I was hoping for

Only stayed for 1 night but not good value for money our room was very small

Staff were invariably helpful. Staying in an exec room provided excellent bonuses. The room was spacious and comfortable. Amenities were very good. Location so close to central London, dining and theatres was great.

Very unhappy about the fact that we had paid for the room and told us that it was not paid! He had returned by mail the invoice to be paid back in a second time!

Bij dit hotel weet je bij voorbaat wat je zal krijgen voor het geld dat je betaalt. Het Waldorf Hilton biedt kwaliteit en dat uit zich in alle aspecten. Wij kiezen steeds voor dit hotel bij een verblijf in Londen.

I was impressed that my reason for wanting to stay at the Hilton was noted and I received a card signed by staff- How great is that?!

I found some staff on reception, on the door, concierge and in the dining room a little disinterested and I expect, and usually get, more from the Hilton. Perhaps I was spoilt by The Caledonian in Edinburgh!! The Hilton brand has a standard worth paying for, so I think it needs to be fabulous, all the time. Most staff were very nice, helpful and attentive, especially the dining room manager (I think), but it only takes one to tarnish the magic.

The availability, friendliness of staff. All smiles and very little care, including a certain Mr Peter breakfast to name him.

The interior, and rough finishes. The bed: bed too soft. The gym is not restricted to hotel guests, it would have been nice to say so. The size of the pool (the photo is misleading). The water is 23 degrees maximum.

Many years ago I stayed here when it was then part of the Trust House Forte group. Of course it is an old building (about 1910)with some interesting and attractive period features. Hilton are gradually refurbing their original refurb e.g. Two old rooms into one Exec room etc., and the creation of an Exec Lounge from one of the old conference rooms on the mezzanine floor. Quality of the food and generally the service were fine. Its situation for the Theatreland could hardly be surpassed with taxi rank outside and bus services immediately in front of the hotel

Pool and "Spa" are managed by L.A. Fitness. Small by current standards in the basement of the hotel, Very small towels and a charge for an extra one ! Initially offered a room on the third floor fronting Aldwych which had been fsily recently made over. I did not like the lack of privacy of the washing area and would have preferred at least a modesty partition. I changed room preferring the 2 rooms into one scenario which shut off the ablutions area from the sleeping area. It was also quieter at the back of the hotel although a long walk from the elevator (with a few stairs to negotiate) for the elderly.
