The new £1m refurbishment is great

Convenient location to restaurants and shops

Room facilities poor. Consumables such as plastic tumblers and coffee sachets not replaced, no bin in bathroom. Weekend breakfast time far too late, didn't go all the way to Godalming to lie in bed, we could have done that at home. If breakfast is included in the price it shouldn't be so late that you can't have it - we did get a tray with cereal and fruit juice but we had to buy breakfast outside of the hotel because we were still hungry. Major issue with room security (window lock broken)and fly infestation in room after window left open by cleaning staff. Radiator thermostat faulty, tv remote didn't work properly. Our stay at the same hotel last year was far more enjoyable and we had exactly the same room, that's why we booked again this year.

For the price it is a reasonable hotel. The location is its best point.

The beds in the single rooms are very uncomfortable and the rooms very small indeed. Not much room to move around in.

The manager and staff were very welcoming and attentive.

Although the food I had was simple and well cooked the menu and choice was uninspiring, more like a pub menu/food than what you would expect in a hotel.

The staff were very helpfull and exceptionally friendly. Bathroom was huge and well equipped. Great central location.

Bedroom a bit small. No phone in room. TV reception hazardous to eyesight.

The food, especially supper, was very basic and not well prepared. The bed was just about acceptable.
