Macdonald Crutherland House and Spa

We attended Crutherland House for a wedding and were most disappointed by the service from the staff. Having travelled 4 hours in the car and arriving at noon we were told we couldn't check in until 3pm, despite wedding starting at 2pm. This is clearly stated on brochures etc but when rooms have to be vacated at 11am it would seem unlikely to me that there was nothing ready after 1 or 2 hours for us to even change in. Rather than that, our party had to change in the swimming pool changing rooms. Not the most ideal place to dress for a wedding. The receptionist was far from sympathetic and should definitely be given some customer service guidance. At the reception we then found the bar staff to be a mixture of inexperienced. One lady in particular almost seemed to resent having to serve anyone and wanted to direct us to another bar, despite the fact that there was no one else in the bar to serve. Hardly a welcoming atmosphere for a wedding party spending a lot of money in the Hotel.

Excellent staff who couldn't do enough. The only down side was at the time of my stay there were two weddings taking place which made it a bit noisy in the early hours of the morning.

Pleasant overnight stay only spoilt by the delays at breakfast on the Sunday morning. This was probably due to the hotel being busy with a wedding but table were not being cleared and made avaiable soon enough. We had to wait for an hour and 15 mins in the lounge prior to being seated. Lounge has tea and coffee set out but the flasks were empty when we arrived and were not refilled.
