Conveniently near to Gatwick Airport - and better signposted this year!! Good to be able to leave our key cards in a box when there was a queue to check out in the morning.

Friendly staff and good location

Internet charges were high and the Internet barely worked. When you charge some 10 pounds a day it is a source of considerable irritation that Internet is so slow. Get some professional help and see that you do not sell more services than you can provide.

The location nice bed , nice size room

Hotel is very convenient for the Gatwick South Terminal, and it is only a 10 min walk from the terminal. The shuttle bus goes to the North Terminal first and therefore takes more than 10 mins to get to the hotel. Plus the bus charges 3GBP person. The hotel appears to be quite new (winter 2012/13) and is well appointed. The king room we had was quite large and the bed was very comfortable. The caulking in the shower however had black mildew in places in the corners.

We had dinner in the hotel and while having the soup, I found a piece of wire in my mouth. I pointed it out to the waitress and she immediately took the soup away. She came back and asked if I would like another appetizer, but by then the interest in food had greatly diminished. During the main course, I was very apprehensive as to what was on my plate. When the manager passed, I asked him if he had been made aware of the problem and he said he had not, but would investigate. He returned a little later and apologized and said our bill would be adjusted. On getting the bill, which was not cheap, the only adjustment had been the removal of the soup. I wrote to Marriott on return home, and they promptly replied and again apologized for the problem.
