Large comfortable room.
Church clock chimimg outside window, pretty noisy. Kitchen fan outside other window humming. Could not sleep with one or the other!

Old Ground Hotel is not the modern hotel that can be found anywhere in the world. Old Ground Hotel has character and personality and has an historical place in the community. When asked about good places to eat in the city, people in Ennis said we should try the Old Ground Hotel. We said," Oh thats the place we are staying! And indeed it had a great Pub and dining facility too.

Of all the places we stayed in Ireland, this hotel had the best service by far. We asked for a super-early check-in and were pleasantly surprised they could accommodate us. Breakfast was delicious and the wait staff was excellent. The front desk was helpful and offered take-away coffee every morning. Our room was large, clean and very comfortable. The hotel is centrally located between Shannon airport, Bunratty Castle and all Burren attractions. Of course, you could just spend all of your time exploring the beautiful streets of Ennis!.

The Old Ground Hotel is a fine hotel. There is an old-world grandeur about the place that is charming, yet the hotel offers all of the comforts and conveniences travelers expect. The staff was extremely kind and accomodating, and we felt very much at home. Our only regret was that our stay was so short, a circumstance we intend to amend on our next trip to Ireland.

The hotel staff, the convenience to town and to Shannon airport, and the old-world feel of the place.
There were some aspects of the furnishings that didn't appeal to me--the rug in our room was quite worn and stained in places, and some of the couches and chairs seemed to need cleaning or reupholstering.
