The staff were very friendly and approachable. The reason for our visit was to celebrate my sister's 60th birthday and they made it special by remembering with a card, fruit in the room and a platter of strawberries and macaroons. My birthday which was on the day we arrived was also made special in a similar way.

Professional hotel.
The room was too small, the shower was not tall enough for me. All jammed into a space that was too small.

We really enjoyed the room, the ambience of the hotel and the helpful and friendly staff. The beautiful interior was a bonus as well.

Good location, comfortable room.
For the price, I would expect breakfast to be included. The cooked breakfast (Roxburghshire) was pretty ordinary, and I don't recall ever having to queue for a breakfast table, as was the case on both Tuesday and Wednesday. I found the bar staff rather offhand - as a woman alone, I was ignored when seated, and until I went to the bar to order. On a second occasion, when my colleague had joined me, the bar was deserted and I had to go in search of someone to serve me (once the two ladies concerned had finished their amusing conversation). This was all between 6 and 7 pm.

The hotel is very well located and very clean. If you have heavy bags, do not walk from Waverly station. Its further than you think from the station to the hotel.
We had a room looking out onto George street and o a weekend it is very noisy. Especially from the Tiger Lily night club just opposite. At 3.30am there were lots of people sat outside the Tiger Lily.

Our room ,a front one, was VERY noisy mainly from inebriated passers by.
