The location - just under Box Hill - is marvellous and the grounds are picturesque and well tended. The swimming pool looked very inviting.
The restaurant food was excellent, although the menu was limited.
The balcony on my room in the annexe was a great plus. Ample free parking right opposite, although dodging the Box Hill cyclists was a challenge.
The modernised décor is smart but comes at the expense of the hotel's historic atmosphere. The Burford Bridge oozed character when I last visited in the 1970s.
The price of beer was pretty steep and the keg "IPA" was as fizzy as a continental lager.

My ratings speak for themselves. This was a return visit 1 month after our very first one and we are planning to return yet again!
The celebration meal we had planned was superb.

Lovely hotel in a lovely part of the country. The lounge and bar area were delightful. The restaurant was also well set out and breakfast was excellent.
We were less happy with the meal we had in the restaurant.We didn't expect anything exceptional just nice English food, well cooked.

The location was good for us as we had an event at Denbies vineyard which is just up the road. The hotel is also only 20 or 30 mins from Gatwich airport.
Our room was tiny, there was only enough room to barely walk around the bed the room was so small. We also thought the breakfast was very expensive (it was not included in our room rate) We ordered a light lunch in the lounge area and we also thought lunch was expensive as well. We also had to wait about 20 mins to get our cooked breakfast and when it came out, we did not get what we ordered.

We had a wedding to go to in the hotel and then stayed the night, it was wonderful. We spent sunday by the pool.
