The Astoria is a grand old lady. Beautiful common rooms. Liked our bedroom with built in storage, a separate bath area which helped control the air conditioning and a small three seasons room with doors that opened to the outside.
The restaurant was open for breakfast only and the bar is no longer open.

The location (walking distance from points within lowertown, and the historical University) The view of the river.
The interior (carpets, upholstery, etc) need cleaning and updating badly. My wife and I love classic 20s-style hotels, but there is absolutely no hotelier's rule against replacing carpeting with new-but-period-looking carpets, and at least cleaning the furniture upholstery, if not replacing that, too. This has to be done at some point, and everything, sadly looked original, with decades of stain and smell.
