Room 119 was outstandingly the worst I have ever stayed in, plus some bad service. Very old, very tired very small, with small bed; unnecessary connecting door made noise level higher. Over the kitchen so had noise and smell until late evening. No safety grip on wall for getting in/out of shower, no safety/slip mat. `Bath` towels were tiny and old. No hotel directory in room. No TV remote in room. No bedside reading lamp so bad light for reading. Only two drinking glasses for two people so couldn`t each have juice and water at same time. No toileteries, not even a tissue or shower cap. At check-in I was required to pay in advance that`s a first world wide. Asked for a wake up call-never came; called down on Sat for same and again never happened. I was over- charged by 5p on each of the three newspapers I had. Charged 10p for one sheet of paper to print frrom computer. I regularly stay (privately-I am retired) at hotels all over Europe and N America and this is the worst room I have ever had anywhere in the world. If they have 90% refurbished- and it was not 90% occupancy why were we not given a refurbished room? I have written to the hotel in these terms.

Overall a very good experience. Helpful staff at reception, spacious room (very comfortable) delicious breakfast.

I had orginally booked 3 rooms but had cancelled one. when we arrived the very unhelpful member of staff said that he had not been cancelled and i had to pay for the 3 rooms. I had not printed the updated reservation off so i said that i would go on the internet in the hotel to print it off. the computer was busy so i had to wait about an hour to do so, but by this time the receptionist had found the new booking of 2 rooms. she was not apolgetic about the mistake. the downstairs of the hotel was beautiful and couldn't fault it at all. the rooms were compact dated, but clean. the breakfast was cold and there we no glasses for the juices, when i tried to get someones attention to find me one they all seem to busy and didn't speak great english.
