JR Hotels Bologna Amadeus

was exactly what we hoped it would be would certainly stay again.

Unfortunately we could not use the reservation, by the illness of my wife, who could not travel. We have communicated this hotel. m.vr.gr.

The staff were very helpful. They printed our boarding passes, gave directions for taking the bus to the old city and how to get back along with a very good map. Although we spoke Italian, the hotel staff spoke English and made sure we understood because catching the bus back from old town requires getting to the correct location (not where you got off). The Pizzeria di Stella is next door to the hotel is one of the best restaurants we found with excellent food and very reasonable. MAJOR NOTE to travellers: While the Amadeus hotel staff spoke English, Bologna is NOT a tourist town and few people speak English in other areas of the city. No bus drivers and few shop owners spoke any English at all. We were flying out of Bologna and chose the Amadeus hotel because it was near the airport and we had a 6:15 flight. The hotel arranged to have a taxi for us at 4:30 AM and the front desk is manned 24 hours a day, so that was a big selling point to us.

The room was clean and comfortable and the reception staff efficiently organised a taxi for the trip to the airport for an early morning departure.

Contrary to expectations arising from internet research, the hotel was further from the airport than expected and there was no shuttle bus. And the air conditioner was noisy and not very effective.
