Village Hotel Blackpool

After requesting a gluten free meal for xmas day I was very disappointed to be served a meal i could not eat, it included stuffing, sausage, and a portion of bread sauce poured all over it. I was assured before arrival that my dietary needs could be met - they obviously were not. I requested a refund - which was eventually given, but this hardly compensated for xmas day ruined.

We paid extra 20 pounds for upgrade to upstairs room with extra amenities. Had to ask them for tea bags, water, biscuits,toiletries (all apparently included) as we had 2 night stay unfortunately prebooked online from Australia. The worst thing was though we had to ask them to clean the floor! They allow dogs to stay in rooms and there was white fur all over floor!!!! No good if you get Asthma! Lift stopped working so had to use stairs, both of us Seniors. The whole place was covered in carpet which was in need of a good clean. My suggestion unless you have a dog its not the best choice to stay. Bitterly dissapointed :(

Leisure facilities, location

Hotel was exceptionally busy on the Friday night when we ate our inclusive meal at a round table next to a very noisy bar. the meal was only very average and the serveice very slow.

Feel the rooms are looking a little tired & are in need of refurbishment. Was disappointed the Beauty Spa was closed.

Breakfast! I accept it has now become the norm, but why do chefs lose any pride in their work when it comes to a buffet breakfast? Grey, turgid piles of bacon, completely overcooked fried eggs like evil rubber islands in a sea of grease, mutant scrambled egg swimming in water and the remaining breakfast components all begging to be eaten before their pride is totally perished. There is one rotary toaster in the breakfast room, between 172 rooms, and every slice has to be put through TWICE! Seriously, there are "hotels" charging a sixth as much down the road, with an infinitely better breakfast than is offered here. Why? Sort it out! It is the last thing most people remember about the hotel. And chef, get some pride about you. Please.

The food was great

The room was very basic. For the first two days bedding for a single/double bed was used on a king size bed. The bedding could not be tucked in, leaving the mattress exposed. This was not rectified despite us asking the staff to do so. We have previously stayed at the hotel and chose to return as we were very happy with it but feel it has gone downhill.

The highlight of our stay was the buffet breakfast, a good choice and all very fresh.

Our room was extremely run down: carpets ripped and coming away from the walls, all bathroom seals dirty. The carpet had clearly not been hoovered in all the corners for a very long time, very dusty. The facilities of the hotel give it a 4 star rating but our room felt like a run down bed and breakfast.

My stay was very enjoyable, no complaints whatsoever. Would not hesitate to use this hotel again.
