Wonderful hotel with amazing views of the River Shannon and The ruins of the Athlone Castle! the staff were spot on and very helpful!

For the most part it was a very pleasent stay
We did not like been woken by a road sweeper at 6.30am on saturday morning

I liked the ambience, service by and courtesy of Bar and Waiting Staff, the excellent Breakfast, the appointments and comfort of the room and the efficiency of the Lift service.
I did not get to sleep until 4 a.m. having retired at 11.45 p.m. This was because there was a wedding function (Dance) in progress until 2 a.m. My bedroom seemed to be almost over the entertainment area which is steel roofed. Consequently I had to endure that dreadful base drum beat (no music) which seemed to reverberate through the walls of my bedroom.A little forward planning would have ensured that non-wedding guests would be accommodated in bedroom away from the entertainment area or at worst be informed of likely sleep disturbance unti 2a.m. Furthermore, while the reception staff were excellent dealing with my check-out the reception was overly officious on booking in. No word of welcome -the most important word in the tourist and hospitality business. My reception commenced with "Would you take a seat over there I am dealing with a customer".An indication of being under pressure perhaps. Had those words been preceded by the the words "Welcome to the Raddison Blu - I am busy at present and will deal with you a.s.a.p. etc., etc., That would have been totally acceptable.

Location great, beautiful room, reception staff very helpful
Great choice of buffet breakfast but the "hot" breakfast dishes were not hot, only luke warm. Coffee was not good.
