Alton House Hotel

This hotel was lovely. The room was very spacious and clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great, lots of choice and although buffet style everything was hot and you could have as much as you liked. We had issues with noise on the night we stayed as there was a football club having their end of season party there which got completely out of control but the staff handled it well and the manager spoke with us the next day to apologise personally and acknowledge that it wasn't good enough. This was acknowledged via a discount in our rate. An experience like that can leave a bad taste in your mouth but it was handled so well by the staff which made all the difference. The receptionist when we were there was lovely, helpful and very attentive. Would definitely stay again but would enquire about functions and maybe request a room further away from the action!

The hotel was located very close to where I was visiting on business which was very important. The bar/restuarant offered a good range of meals at very reasonable rates. The room was a little rough around the edges with very creeky and uneven floor boards but overall was comfortable

The staff were welcoming , pleasant and helpful. We were made to feel comfortable and the food was very good. My one complaint is that I did not like the plastic mugs in the bathroom, glasses would have been nicer and more sustainable.
