Hotel Edda Akureyri

Good location to explore the city and very close to the Botanic Garden. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Very old building, wasn't specified during the booking that we ll stay at that building. When we arrived we asked to be moved to the newest building but they were overbooked. Our room was close to the shared bathrooms and it was too noisy to sleep. Nothing special.

We were very surprised to realise, once past the elegant entrance hall and having reached the upper floor, that we were staying in a boarding school and that our accomodation was nothing more than a study-bedroom for two students. We had booked a "double bedroom with shared bathroom" but found we each had a fairly narrow "cabin" bed and a walk down the corridor to toilets and showers! Nowhere in the hotel description did it indicate this and we feel that we should not have had to pay what amounted to only a little less than what we paid in other hotels in Iceland for ensuite accomodation with twin or double beds. Very disappointing! And we had to endure this for three nights!

The drain of the sink was black with dirt and covered with hair! It's quite unpleasant.

Absolutely clean and everything accurate, very large breakfast buffet.

Very helpful and competent staff at the reception - level! Top Service is impeccable and an upmarket hotel quite equivalent. Top location close to the "inner city". Also recommended for business trips, but in this new room should be booked.
