Wrocław, capital of the Lower Silesian province, is one of the oldest and prettiest cities in Poland. Located at the foothills of the Sudety mountains on the edge of the river Oder, with its numerous rivers and canals, the city boasts the extraordinary amount of 12 islands and 112 bridges. Wrocław lies 270 km west of Krakow, 310 km south-west of Warsaw, 160 km from German border (200 km awal from Dresden) and 130 km from the Czech Republic. Fourth in ranking among Polish cities (approx. 700.000 inhabitants), Wrocław is an imortant centra for industry, transport and communication in South Poland.
