Area information :

Valkenburg has many sights and attractions, such as castles, musea and marl rock caves. Generally esteemed are the thermal pools at Thermae 2000 and the Holland Casino on top of the Cauberg. Pleasant shops, the Geul river, historic buildings and restaurants with outside dining, that's Valkenburg.

From the center of town you can start a walk or cyclingtour through the hilly country, with its half-timbered houses, monumental farmsteads, photogenic little villages, forrested hills, sunken roads and meandering streams.

Travel information :

By Car (from the A2 Eindhoven – Maastricht):
- Take exit 51 for Meerssen / Valkenburg / Bunde (after the airport).
- At the roundabout, take a left for Meerssen / Valkenburg.
- Pass under the motorway.
- Take the roundabout right for Meerssen / Valkenburg.
- Take the roundabout straight ahead for Rothem.
- Take the roundabout straight ahead for Valkenburg / Heerlen.
- Cross over the motorway and turn left for the A79 Valkenburg / Heerlen.
- Take the A79 Maastricht - Heerlen and take exit 3 for Valkenburg.
- Take the stop sign right for Valkenburg / Houthem.
- Pass under the railway.
- Take the roundabout left for Valkenburg.
- From Broekhem, follow the road for 1.2 km.
- When in Valkenburg, at the traffic light (after ABN AMRO Bank), follow main road for 600 metres.
- Take the roundabout right and follow the road for 300 metres.
- At the 5th street turn left for Gosewijnstraat, towards VVV-Tourist information.
- At the end of the street turn left and cross the bridge.
- At Lunchroom, turn right for Pelerinstraat, which is a dead-end street where the hotel’s car park is located.

Parking:
Behind the church is the entrance to the hotel’s secured and free parking spaces. You have to drive onto Pelerinstraat (street with a dead end). Please note that the entrance is open until 23:00. There is limited availability and reservations are not possible. You can also park at the spacious Walram Square or Berkel Square (3 minutes walk) for a small fee during the day and for free during the night.

By Train (from Valkenburg Central Station):
- From the train station, take a left and cross the street onto the Stationsstraat.
- After 200 metres, take a right at the traffic lights onto the Nieuwe Weg and after a further 200 metres, take a left at the traffic lights onto Reinaldstraat (cross the street twice in the Reinaldstraat).
- After 200 metres, take a right onto Louis v.d. Maessenstraat.
- After 200 metres, you will get to a crossroad. Go straight ahead onto the Dorrenplein.
- After 200 metres, go straight ahead over the bridge into Grotestraat Centrum and after 50 metres you will see Hotel de l´Empereur on your right-hand side.
