From the moment Turunç comes into sight, as you drive via the lofty heights of the winding mountain road from Icmeler that threads its way down into the bay, you instinctively know that this is going to be a special holiday.
Turunç is a popular destination because of its beautiful nature and relaxing atmosphere. The small town does not tolerate extensive sound pollution and reduces this, for instance, by closing off the main road to car traffic in the evenings. This also provides a safer environment for families with small children.
Proud holder of the Blue Flag award, the bay boasts a fine sand and shingle beach that stretches out for 500 metres and frames the clearest of blue seas at the passage to the bay of Marmaris. For a small resort, Turunç offers a wide range of water sports, including windsurfing, water-skiing, speedboat hire and scuba diving, and shops. You will probably not want to stray from Turunç, but if you wish to visit the cosmopolitan seaport town of Marmaris, a 40 minute boat trip is all it takes. The boats leave for Marmaris every hour between 09:00 and 21:00. From Marmaris the boats operate between 09:30 and 23:00 to Turunç.
The scenery in and around Turunç is truly magnificent and you can spend enjoyable hours wandering around, following coastal tracks past Amos Bay to Kumluk or into the mountains behind Turunç.Local excursions, such as white water rafting, can give you that incredible adrenaline rush. Take a 2 day trip to Pamukkale and discover scuba diving in Ephesus, where complete beginners and advanced divers alike are welcome. Experience the real Turkish countryside on an outback jeep safari. Take a boat cruise along the river Dalyan, a preserved breeding ground for loggerhead turtles.
