Want an excuse to ditch the phone and get away from it all for a few days? In Finland you can do both - quite literally.
The small town of Savonlinna hosts its annual Mobile Phone Throwing Championships this August providing the perfect opportunity to lob your LG or sling your Siemens.
Cell-hurling categories include the Original - where participants perform over-the-shoulder throws judged on length, or the Freestyle event - a heady mix of style, distance and choreography.
There is also a junior class for text-happy toddlers to 12-year-olds.
Competitors with strong handset preferences can choose from a range of brands and models provided by the official organisers, with weights ranging from 200 grams to over 400 grams.
For other phone activities in Finland, head to the town of Nokia - home of the eponymous telecommunications giant. As well as mobile heritage, Nokia is also famed for its spa, waterways and factory shops.
