Sweden's largest outdoor festival takes place this August as the Gothenburg Party - or Goteborgskalaset as it is known locally - returns.
The ten-day event has a packed programme of theatre, comedy, dance and a plethora of live music performances by well-known Swedish artists.
Sports fans will not be disappointed either - the city's Ullevi Stadium is hosting a string of athletics events to coincide with the celebrations.
There is also a traditional pyrotechnic show to lighten the mood - quite literally - even further, with stunning displays setting off the picturesque moat and harbour against the night sky.
Pavement cafe-bars and parks in Gothenburg will be bustling during this time, making these great venues to enjoy the Nordic summertime away from main festival events.
Other annual highlights of the Gothenburg calendar include June's Midsummer Festival. Following the party, the city also plays host to a dance and theatre festival and a jazz event in August.
