Enjoy some alfresco films in Munich as the annual Kino Open Air Festival kicks off.
The latest Indiana Jones adventure, Iron Man, Sex & The City and bittersweet teenage pregnancy tale Juno are among the screenings scheduled for the last week of July, alongside a host of homemade movies.
All films will be shown at Munich's striking Konigsplatz, where magicians, food and drink add to the evening entertainment.
In total, around 30,000 visitors usually descend on the square for the screenings, which boast classics, comedies, horror and avant garde shorts alongside the mainstream contemporary offerings already listed.
For similar events, try the Kino, Mond und Sterne (movies, moon and stars) festival in the city's stunning Westpark in August. Films are screened from a floating stage in the middle of the garden's lake.
Alternatively, splash out on cinema (quite literally) at Kino am Pool, which shows recent blockbusters at lido venues in Munich.
