Frome Somerset with love

Posted on Thu. 01/01/1970 00:00. Categories: United Kingdom | Sightseeing

Those seeking a rural retreat in Britain should head to the historic Somerset town of Frome.

Boasting more listed buildings than any other comparable place in the region, the architectural heritage offers a wealth of galleries, theatres and other cultural venues dotted along Frome's steep hills and cobbled streets.

There are also good souvenir shopping opportunities on picturesque Cheap Street and Catherine Street.

For a real taste of town life, visit during the ten-day Frome Festival in July, where the area comes alive with music, comedy, drama, dance, film, literature, walks, talks, workshops and exhibitions.

Among the highlights of this year's programme is an appearance from popular comedian and TV personality Paul Merton.

For other Frome attractions, visit the Saturday farmers' market or use the town as a base to explore the beautiful Mendip countryside. It is also conveniently located just four miles from Longleat lion and tiger park.
