Pig out on local food, culture and entertainment at France's annual summer Pourcailhade festival.
Celebrating the humble swine, it takes place this year on August 10th in picturesque Trie-sur-Baise and is completely free throughout the day.
Unsurprisingly, the programme of events has a thoroughly porcine bias - from pig costume competitions and sausage-eating races to piglet derbies and charcuterie stalls.
The highlight of the day, however, is undoubtedly the pig imitation competition where squeals must correspond with various moments of the animal's life, including feeding and reproduction.
Trie-sur-Baise is one of the largest pig-raising areas in the country and is situated in the Hautes-Pyrenees in south-eastern France.
For visitors who don't profess to be pork fans, good local restaurants include the popular Cafe des Sports, Cafe Restaurant de la Paix - which also offers a takeaway service - and Relais de la Baise.
