For a smell of summer head to the perfume capital of the world in August to enjoy Grasse's fragrant Fete du Jasmin.
Over the first three days of the month the town, situated just 11 miles north of Cannes, is decorated with over 150,000 blooms on floats which parade through the town's pretty streets.
Meanwhile local girls, also dressed in jasmine flowers, deck the watching crowds with colour too by throwing stems into the throng.
It precipitates the festival's dramatic culmination of a "bataille de fleurs" - a very fragrant and floral street fight!
Grasse is most famous as the birthplace of popular scent Chanel No 5 and the town's Perfume Museum - which opens again following refurbishment this autumn - offers a fascinating insight into the industry.
For more flower power in Grasse, return for the springtime Rose Festival, which attracts growers from across the globe.
