One of Europe's largest youth parties, the Donau or Danube Island Festival is particularly popular with the young residents of Vienna, who up-sticks and head to the event each summer.
Running for over 20 years, the free event attracts local bands and DJs as well as a number of well-known musicians, who perform on 16 stages spread across 19 islands.
Over 2,000 participants attend the festival during the third week of June, which includes a whole host of events, including a special programme for children.
Past acts at the celebration, which is one of the largest open-air festivals in Europe, have included Backstreet Boys and Simple Minds, since its opening in 1984.
Various food and drink stalls are on hand across the islands, produced by local chefs.
The Danube Island attracts a number of young people throughout the year due to its countless bars, restaurants and nightclubs, as well as its great beach.
There are also a number of opportunities to take part in a range of sports such as rollerblading and canoeing.
