Festivals aren't usually renowned for silence and serenity but the annual Buddhafield event in Taunton, Somerset strives to achieve just that.
From July 16th - 20th visitors can find out more about Buddhism in a series of workshops, debates, dance shows, crafts and music.
Outlawing drugs, alcohol and even dogs, the festival is all about achieving inner peace through meditation, yoga and specially designated healing areas.
Organisers insist the event, hosted in the beautiful Somerset countryside, is all about "the flourishing of clear and radiant awareness" but even those who aren't desperate to achieve enlightenment may be curious to check out a festival so different from the usual hedonistic summer offerings.
Other unusual festivals taking place in Britain this year include Two Thousand Trees in Cheltenham, an eco-friendly way to enjoy fine tunes in a field.
Shambala in Northamptonshire is also worth the ticket price for festival-lovers with families. Entertainment includes a roller disco, barn dancing and a cinema.
