Blood on Paper at the V&A

Posted on Tue. 22/04/2008 18:30. Categories: United Kingdom | Museums

This spring London's prestigious Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum hosts an exhibition of books produced by artists.

Running from April 15th until June 29th, Blood on Paper also features works that refer to books, with displays by renowned international artists from the past and present such as Picasso, Matisse, Damien Hirst and Anish Kapoor.

From iconic pieces to more surprising features, the Kensington museum shows both more traditional exhibits to large installations, including Anselm Kiefer's 2008 book The Secret Life of Plants, which stands at almost two metres tall and greets visitors upon their arrival at the exhibition.

Exploring different ways in which artists have treated the book, other displays include Picasso's Deux Contes, Matisse's Jazz and Anish Kapoor's four-part work, Wound.

The V&A is easily accesible from South Kensington underground station and is nearby to a number of other London attractions including the Sciene Museum and the Natural History Museum.

It is also just a short walk to Knightsbridge and the renowned flagship Harrods store.
