Whether an angel or a devil, the luxury Aleph hotel in Rome is a unique place to stay for any tourist visiting the Italian capital.
Playing on the themes of heaven and hell, renowned architect Adam Tihani has created stunningly original decor including a blood-red lobby and a celestial basement spa, incorporating Italian 30s and 40s style along with more minimalist design.
Continuing the heaven and hell premise, the rooms in the boutique hotel are all situated in 'purgatory' and adorned with huge black and white photographs of Rome, while the restaurant, where the whole menu of dishes is red, is called Sin.
Ironically, 'heaven' for this hotel is downstairs rather than up, with a luxurious spa and relaxation area offering saunas, pools, Turkish and Swedish baths and bars.
Those who want to continue the religious theme can visit Vatican City and explore the centre of Roman Catholicism, including the celebrated Sistine Chapel complete with Michelangelo's famous ceiling fresco.
