Liverpool's European city of culture crown in 2008 means there are many extra attractions to visiting the Merseyside city throughout the year.
The historic city's 800-year history is explored at the fascinating Magical History Tour exhibition at the Merseyside Maritime Museum. With interactive displays, the show will take visitors on a historical journey to meet former inhabitants. This exhibition runs from July 28th to September 27th.
The Liverpool Comedy Festival is six years old now and has gained a reputation for attracting the best in stand-up comedy. Running from May 28th to June 8th, the festival features events such as Drink-up, Stand Up (a pub crawl with comedians) and Bus Stop, Stand Up (a bus ride with comedians).
Celebrating the Beatles, a Magical Mystery Tour bus will be running every day throughout the year, on a bus that is identical to the one used in the 1967 film. The tour stops at the childhood homes, schools and places that inspired the band and its famous songs such as Penny Lane and Strawberry Field.
