Barcelona Accommodations 

Barcelona is the second largest Spanish city and one of the leading tourist areas, along with the capital of Madrid. Although Madrid is the seat of government and politics, Barcelona really is the cultural capital. The 1992 Olympic Games did amazing things for the city. It became very important almost overnight, and the tourism has been good ever since. The area where the Olympics were held, overlooks the city and the Mediterranean. Traveling by cable car to the area takes you from the beach to the top of the mountain, and it is absolutely beautiful.

The main focus of Barcelona is Las Ramblas, which is a wide street, with a central walkway where street performers entertain the crowds. There are plenty of restaurants and hotels close by, but they can be expensive in this popular area.

If you are looking for great architecture, you'll find it in Barcelona. Most of it was conceived by Architect Antonio Gaudi in the 1800's. Be sure to see Park Guell and the cathedral, La Sagrada Familia. Both are incredible works that you must see.  (Close)
