Upon opening in 1928, the Alfonso XIII was considered to be the most luxurious hotel in Europe. Not much has changed. Like Sevilla itself, the hotel’s wonderful design reflects the grace of Andalucia's Arabesque heritage. Built to house the heads of state at the 1929 Great Ibero-American Exhibition, the hotel has been equipped with the latest technology, including in-room movies and internet broadband connection. Many rooms feature antique furniture, Murano-glass lamps, wooden ceilings, and three different décor styles: Castilian, Baroque and Moorish. The aptly named Royal Suite has been the choice of royal families the world over for 80 years.
The hotel’s meeting rooms include a beautiful, traditional Andalusian interior courtyard with natural light and private terraces and can hold up to 500 guests. The hotel commands a royal location as well, on the banks of the Guadalquivir River and close to many sights like the Cathedral and Giralda, the Torre del Oro, the Santa Cruz district, the Old University and the Triana district. Main reason for choosing Hotel Alfonso XIII: Location
The breakfast was superb and the room was very quiet.
I would expect staff in a hotel of such a standard to be fluent in English.

When you compare hotels in the same category the main difference is in the service they provide the guest. We found the waitstaff in the restaurant, lobby bar and breakfast buffet to be unresponsive to requests and gave poor service. The concierge was curt and not helpful. We encountered only two young men at the reception desk to be helpful and interested in making our stay a pleasant one.
The beautiful building and the location of the hotel.
The very poor service was not congruent to the reputation of the hotel.

As described as the best hotel in Seville. The food was very dissapointing particulary as it was very expensive. ROom service was cold. FOr 15 euro for a sandwhich and chips you expect at leat hot fires! We also ate in the restaurant and ti was very poor and again alot of money. We would definitely not eat there again. However we did not say anything. I did want to write a comment card but were running late on leaving so glad to feedback now. They allowed a late check out which was great for our comfort. We were also a little dissapoionted with the pictures of double delux on the webiste and the actual room we got. Honestly we were expecting more. We had a good discount rate but would have been more angry if full rate was paid. PLease compare the pictures to the actual room and comment on the difference in a reply as it would be grateful
THe late check out. Beds were very comfortable. Laundrey service great although she could not speak any english so a little tricky for anyone that cannot speak spanish - 5*? CONsierge very helpful - great
Food expensive and even less would have been disappointed. Pate fois gras out of chill so hard as rock. We left alot of that. My fish was on a stick like a kebab and not at all like the description but it was not tasty. Chips cold on room service.

We thought this was a lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff, lovely decor and a relaxed feel about the whole place. superb pianist entertained us with lovely music while we dined. The pool was a nice size and never too crowded. Our room was the quietest we have ever had, it seem to be totally sound proof, due we thought to the cloth wall paper
Everything
The pool attendents made no effort to regulate the seating and remove towels when people had left so we saw many leave the pool area as they did not know if seating was available because the towels were still on the seats
