1: We arrived at the hotel at 8 am after an all-night flight from Seattle. We only hoped they would have at least a comfortable couch in the lobby for us to crash on for a little while until the 1 pm check in. Instead, they said, "Your room is ready." We went to our room, crashed for a bit, then had a wonderful afternoon in Reykjavik. It was like they gave us, not just a more comfortable place to help our jet-lag, but an extra day in Reykjavik. 2: The staff. They were always helpful, and happy to help. They should be the first thing on my list of what we liked. But the real 'first thing' we wanted was a place to crash. 3: The location. (Here, when we are talking about the best real estate, they say, "The best 3 things about this property are location, location, location." And that more than applies to this hotel.) First (for the tourist info crowd), it is located centrally to everything walkable in Reykjavik. But the real 'First' is that it has a wonderful bakery and grocery store right next to it. And the main tourist info office is right next to it on the other side. And you can walk out onto the plaza and strike up a conversation with Icelandic skateboarders, bikers, or foreign tourists. Or walk 2 blocks and be in Parliament Square. Or 4 blocks and do bird watching. Two things that helped our experience there: ALL of the locals we met were as friendly and helpful as I would hope I am with people asking for information here in Seattle; and the weather was great: clear, sunny and warm (which will put a smile on anybody's face!)
