We enjoyed our stay at the Marlborough very much. The staff were so friendly and helpful and looked after us brilliantly. We stayed at the hotel about ten years ago and everything is the same which was lovely. The only problem we had was with the mattress on our bed! It was not very comfortable and I found it difficult to sleep very well. Maybe more comfortable mattresses could be found as we could not fault the cleanliness and comfort otherwise. The meals were great too and freshly cooked.
The fact that it was easy to catch a bus right outside the door so that we did'nt have to drive into Oxford on a Saturday and the fact that it was more or less central to everything going on in Whitney. |

There was nothing about the hotel that we did not like. I am glad that it was the same as it was ten years ago as so many places think that "modern" is better and have changed out of all recognition, not always for the best. |

I thought the hotel was adequate for our needs as a one night stay.
An iron was found immediately when we requested one and also some extra tea etc was provided in our room when we asked for some. |

The decor and general appearance of the room we stayed in, was in need of refurbishment. The dressing table was falling apart which made the drawers unusable and possibly dangerous. |

Location is the hotel's greatest asset - right in the pretty market town high street opposite market square & walking distance for eating out, yet not over noisy at night. Hotel bedrooms extremely tired & dated but large. Good restaurant & enjoyable breakfast available.
The ease of walking out the front door & being in the heart of the town. Watching them setting up the farmers market opposite! |
|
The tiredness & tattiness of the rooms - very 1970s. Dated bathrooms which did not have a single shelf or hook in them to place anything. |

Comfortable rooms and good location.
Friendliness of staff and position of hotel. |
|
Would have liked more outside seating. |

ACCOMODATION APPROPRIATE FOR THE COST, STAFF HELPFULL, CLEAN ENOUGH, PARKING A BIT SPARSE, HAVING TO PARK OUTSIDE ON A BUSY STREET FULL OF REVELLERS AT NIGHT.
TOWN SQUARE PRETTY. NICE RESTAURANTS. LIVELY BUT NOT OTT. |

Great location, parking on site. Room was clean and comfortable but bathroom needed a revamp.
Central position, good value. |

Although breakfast on Sunday was served until 10am, at 9.50 we were told the waitress would have to 'ask chef if he would cook breakfast' for us. |
