The Gateway To York

At first i was disappointed, i paid for a room with a kingsize bed, flat screen tv and dvd player. When i arrived it was a standard room, normal bed, small tv and no dvd. The receptionist was very helpful and upgraded us to the honeymoon suite which made our visit to the hotel very rememberable

not flashy, but comfortable and excellent value. Staff on reception very nice and really helpful. Excellent Car Parking.

	Good Breakfast and a great price

Ideal hotel for a weekend break and well located for surrounding countryside and trips to York.Very friendly helpful staff perhaps there could have been a couple more of them. Case of hunt the bar staff if you wanted a drink ! Carpets in public areas need replacing ,are rather tired but overall a pleasant stay.

Not the nicest hotel i have stayed in, their was a horrible smell in the ground floor corridor outside our room(room No 3), the superior room was (by 2star hotel room standards, average or below, as it had a large damp patch of blistered plaster and cracked sink in the ensuite, ) having said this the food was excellent and plentyful, and the location was a straight run to York. We did sleep well, but this may be due to staying out most of the day in York, and taking in the sights.

	the food was exellent, the staff were good.
	Could have done with more staff to help tend the bar etc, as people were doing several jobs which resulted in a couples on nearby tables waiting over 10 minutes to be served a drink at the bar.

Hotel suited our needs, both in location and price, food was well cooked and served by excellent and cheery staff, menu was varied and suited our needs, although the hotel was going through a refurbishment program, it remained clean and tidy, the rooms were very clean with more than adequate toiletries, check in/out was very quick and effecient

	The full english breakfast x 2 very quiet room with a very comfy bed also more than adequate room refreshments (tea, coffee ect.)

The stairs were a litle bit 'scruffy', but otherwise it was as good as last time.

	Great value for money due to last minute booking. Really enjoy the breakfasts as well !

Pleasant stay.Found the resturant a little pricey. Shower was poor. Also there was a stale smell in the connecting hall between the 2 wings.

I had a pleasant stay at the hotel,however when we first arrived there was a terrible smell as you walked in which i commented on, the next day they had installed an air freshener ate in the restaurant both nights as we are a long way out of york. We had a pleasant stay.

	The chef was very accommodating.
	The artificial flowers at the entrance !!! dust collectors.
