Room was nice, though quite small. Only one toiletry. Corridor was cold. Staff were very helful. Menu was lacking simple, plain dishes. Breakfast was very good. Lovely grounds.

Bar area was very nice - comfortable and relaxed.

An impressive driveway as you approach the front of the Hotel.Lots of history available on request.Fire destroyed the Hotel in 1983 and was refurbished to the style of the day - modern. Don't expect a draughty, smelly 16th century Castle inside. It was to our liking.Comfortable, warm, good food and ammiable staff.

Location, pleasant quiet walks - a retreat from the rat race. Ideal base for visiting 'the Borders'.

Very minor, but the St Andrews Ambulance Service (uniformed)is based in the Hotel although they caused no hindrence. As a result you kept thinking there were actually incidents/accidents within the grounds.Volume of background music at breakfast.

We were very unhappy with the dining room and bar. We could not afford the very expensive dinner and there were no comfortable, higher tables in the bar area. So we had to eat off a low table. Very awkward! We were unhappy with the narrow road lined with rocks coming into the hotel, almost got our car side swiped. Also we thought this hotel looks nothing like a castle such as the name suggests.

Not much. I think we were spoiled by our stay the night before at Matfen Hall.

The hotel is a lovely old building set in georgeous countryside. The staff are second to none in their friendliness and efficiency. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others.

I liked the facilities, staff, surrounding countryside

The room was perhaps just a little small
