Castlefield Hotel

Having stayed here before, it seemed the obvious choice again. Very central for everything, most things within walking distance. Ideal for tram / trains too.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, nice location, walking distance to shops etc Restaurant was strange shape and no ambiance, but we did only use it for breakfast, don't think I would like to have had an evening meal in there but then I am probably doing the staff and the chef a disservice. Didn't use the leisure facilities as we didn't have the time but would use them next time around

This hotel was conveniently placed for a short break in Manchester and was very good value for money. It is a short walk to the tram stop at GMex, only a few minutes from Old Trafford, and a short walk the other way to the shops on Deansgate, cinemas, restaurants, etc. It is in an attractive redeveloped canalside position, right opposite the wonderful Science and Industry museum which is FREE! It was very child friendly, having an excellent pool and gym, and the bar menu catered for everyone. Staff were friendly and helpful.

• Room had plenty of ventilation, chairs and good views over the canal. Proximity to city centre and museum. Reception good for meeting up and relaxing. We didn't use it but the pool looked great.
• Room service finished too early. There was no vegetarian option on the menu apart from a veggie burger (lasagne was unavailable). For some reason we couldn't get the main TV channels apart from ITV, but as we didn't ask for assistance we put it down to our ineptitude.

I had a pleasant and convenient stay in this hotel. Everybody is very friendly and helpful. I would go there again at another time and I can truly recommend it.

• What can also be mentioned is the the offer of the spa area, which - as a pity because of lack of time - didn't use.
