Mercure Grand Hotel Saxe Lafayette

This was a nice hotel. The room was huge, the common areas very nice. Breakfast was delightful, in a large and interesting room with nice variety of breads, yoghurt, cereal and some hot food. The fruit was however, very poor quality with pieces gone bad sitting on the plate and the pineapple pieces looking like it had been out for days. The hotel is quite a distance from the TGV but they provide a shuttle. It is of similar distance to the river and restaurants, which therefore requires some walking each night. The restaurant in the Hotel was not operating while we were there.

The hotel is well situated for exploring the historic parts of the city and for access to the international conference venue. The staff are polite & helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. Views from some bedrooms are not very interesting, however the hotel is generally very smart and comfortable. The restaurant was particularly good.

	I enjoyed the atmosphere at breakfast in the restaurant. Great staff and great choice of food. I enjoyed being able to walk two blocks to the river and into the old city full of restaurants and beautiful buildings
