I was satisfied and, more or less, I got what I expected. However, when I compare the cost, value for money, with similar hotels in Italy I note the high cost of breakfast, particularly as it is almost always included in the room rate. The cost of food in general was higher but this is, I think, a permanent characteristic of London.
The lightness and calm of the foyer and of the rooms. They were not heavy and oppressive. |

Excellent in all respects except that on arrival we were told that our booking, made in June for a De Luxe Double, was not available. The alternatives were a single for two sharing or a junior suite at an extra 1,500 sterling. We were both tired from travelling from our home in Spain,(my husband was due to celebrate his 69th birthday at the hotel on Monday, October 13th, for which a booking had been made in Rhodes Brasserie on our behalf by Lynda Kameche, and we had no alternative but to take the junior suite, bargained down to an extra 850 sterling for the week's stay, now costing 2,229.81 against the expected 1,354.81 as booked in June. My husband was told by the pleasant young woman on Guest Relations on checking out that we might expect a free upgrade on a future visit as compensation which, given the otherwise excellence and location of the hotel, we might well take up next year. However, given the current financial climate, to be greeted with such an addition to the bill on arrival would be daunting for many people and hardly a good PR move.
Other than the checking in experience described above, all services were excellent. |

A fright at reception....I could only recommend the hotel with reservations (forgive the pun). |

The location of the hotel is very good for a tourist. It is located at the beginning of Oxford Street, very close to Hyde Park. It has a competitive room rate.
walk on Oxford street and look around. |

The hotel's rooms looks great and wide through a filmed by three dimensions in the internet site, but I was surprised when i lived in. the room is very narrow and not as it appears in the clips, especially the location of the room was booked for me was very bad location. I think that the room rate is exaggerated in comparison with the level of processing and service, therefore i couldn't stay at the hotel more than one night, although I had reserved a room for four nights. The most beautiful in the hotel is the impressive lobby only.
I hope that hotel does not deceive customers by three-dimensional system for the rooms clips and show it contrary to reality in the Web sites . And i hope the hotel deals online credibility with customers so as not to lose confidence, which could any customer convey a bad impression of the hotel. |

I have stayed at the Cumberland before and much has improved since, in terms of the time required for checking in and out.
The concierge was very helpful. The staff who helped us to check out was very professional and pleasant. |
|
The staff who helped us to check in was rather grumpy. |
