The Cumberland - A Guoman Hotel

A great modern hotel located opposite Marble Arch with a very large lobby. Although we had issues at check in with our booking being lost in their system, the staff were a lot more helpful at checkout. The hotel was good value for money and had great airconditioning which was refreshing during the humid London weather. The room we were allocated was next to an airline crew lounge so was very noisy at night when we were trying to sleep.

	The hotel had lost our booking that we had booked 6 months earlier. They struggled then with their computer system to provide us with a reservation even though we had the confirmation with us.

good location and style but price is crazy. I went there as no alternative (last minute booking) otherwise I go to another hotel in the same area which costs half the price and is as comfortable!

The room had only 1 chair for 2 persons and so little that you nearly could go around - very disappointing

	Hopeless room

We had stressed at the time of booking that we wanted adjoining rooms with the kids with. On arrival we were told that we would be given rooms on different floors!!!! We did not accept this and the front office manager said "I say this story all day today. We have a problem with bookings and have no adjacent rooms". Well, that is the hotel's problems and not the guests who have booked well in advance. After discussion we were given rooms on the same floor and after discussion the following day we were moved to rooms opposite each other. No need to state how much time of our holidays was spent on this issue and how it has spoilt our days in London. The front office manager promised fruit to be sent to our rooms as a compensation (!!) which we are still ......... waiting to receive!! I am a Royal Ambassador at Intercontinental Hotels and the only reason I chose Cumberland was its proximity to Oxford Street as we were on Holiday. BAD DECISION.

	The way were treated at the reception desk was to say the least RUDE and UNACCEPTABLE. WE DO NOT INTEND TO STAY AT THE CUMBERLAND EVER AGAIN AS THEY HAVE SUCCEEDED TO MAKE US BAD AMBASSADORS.

place perfect as location but staff not that professional, room not as expected...problems at check in 2 1/2 hours delay at night

The hotel was nice specially the location which is near the oxford street and the haidpark and not far from ajoward road.

The carpets in our room where full of dirty spots - as well as the walls. The so called Egyptian "theme" where not very easy to see!!! The bathroom was very small - with a very strange sink who took a lot of space. The lobby, restaurant and so on, was very satisfied.

Very clean, and lovely smell in foyer. Staff were efficent and welcoming. There was a hitch with reservations at our arrival, and so we were treated to complimentary drinks! There was a question re our telephone bill and it was taken care of straight away. I would go back and recommend it to others.

My booking was lost although I could show my reference, then I were put in someone elses room with the same surname. Although I booked in at 10am friends who needed to contact me were told the whole day that I wasn't there! My rooms, a single room,is just a cubicle, shower water ran out onto the carpet, walls very thin with no sound proofing. Badly run hotel!
