Megara Boutique Sultanahmet

With little comfort and a very small room in mind this is a reasonable hotel in a quiet atmosphere right in the centre of Sultanahmet. All sightseeing in the neighbourhood is easy to reach within walking distance. The rooms in the hotel are situated not to hear your neighbour roommates and there even is a small lift. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served with Turkish cheese and olives and marvellous marmalades - all this right on the roof top, overseeing the Princess Islands and the ships and fisherman at the entrance from the Sea of Marmara into the Bosporus, with on the other side right above you the majestic building of the Blue Mosque. The hotel is situated in a quiet corner at the end of a street with lots of small hotels running their street terraces in a nice atmosphere and at the beginning of the living area of the local families. We enjoyed our stay in the month October.

Great location, staff very helpful & friendly. Food was one of the best meals I had in Istanbul & very reasonable price.

It looked scruffy on the outside. We had asked for a sea view; we got a basement! Sparsely furnished room - only a bed, single wardrobe, TV and minibar - no chair, table, drawers or other 'luxuries' - but it was very cheap. Clean but minute bathroom. Good shower. Excellent location and fab views from terrace made up for the shortcomings.
